Dr. Astha Dayal says, “For many women, having 2 periods in one month can be worrying and shocking. There are many reasons behind this, for some, this may be normal, but in the case of some women, it may be a sign of a serious medical condition.”
1. Hormonal imbalance
Hormonal imbalance is a common cause of irregular menstruation. Stoppage of menstrual cycle or coming twice a month can be due to thyroid problems or diseases like Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS).

2. Due to weight fluctuations
Many times women take excessive stress due to some reason, or become victims of mental conditions like anxiety. At the same time, there may be sudden fluctuations in weight in women. Stress, weight fluctuations and excessive exercise can affect hormone levels, resulting in irregular periods. If periods are coming twice in 1 month, this could be a possible reason.
3. During perimenopause
Perimenopause, which is the time before menopause, is a period during which many changes occur in women's bodies, especially when their reproductive and sexual hormones fluctuate significantly. During this period, many women get their periods only at a gap of 15 days. The time of perimenopause can cause periods to occur twice a month.
4. Infection or uterine abnormalities
Infection or uterine abnormalities, such as fibroids or polyps, can also cause irregular bleeding. Many times women get diagnosed with ovarian problems and infections late. Due to which, unless treatment is started, periods may be experienced twice a month, or abnormal bleeding may occur at times.

5. Birth Control
