Green Chilli Thecha Recipe

To make this you need

50 g hot green chillies (about 25)
1.5 tbsp garlic (about 15 medium-sized cloves)
1/4 cup roasted peanuts (about 35 grams)
1 tsp cumin seeds
1/4 cup fresh coriander leaves
1 tablespoon peanut oil
Salt to taste

Prepare thecha like this

  • In a pan, on medium flame, heat 1 tbsp oil.
  • Add 1 teaspoon cumin seeds and fry till they change colour.
  • Now add 50 grams of whole green chillies and fry them till their skin changes colour.
  • Green chillies have a tendency to burst or crack, especially if there is any trace of moisture in them.
  • To prevent injury, cover the pan when you cook the peppers.
  • When the green chillies change color, add 1 tbsp garlic cloves and fry for a minute. Then turn off the flame.
  • Immediately, add 1/4 cup roasted peanuts and mix well.
  • Let the mixture cool slightly.
  • Put the chutney in a grinder or mortar
  • Add 1/4 cup coriander and some salt.
  • Grind them together, however, keep them a little thick.
  • Serve Hirvi Mirchi Cha Thecha with Bhakri, Roti or Varan Bhaat (Maharashtrian Dal and Rice).
